Funding innovative programs to further children’s literacy in Uganda.
“We’d like to give the children of Danida & Walakuba a Christmas party.”
David Omedo & Peter Ochi run 2 community libraries for children of their communities. Danida and Walakuba are often referred to as slum communities…parents work in some of the tobacco and sugar cane factories – working long hours for little pay. Many mothers create handicrafts to sell in markets. Some parents and children sort through trash at the Jinja dump.
Their libraries are a safe space in the community where children can go to read, to play, and to be seen by these caring community librarians.
With your support we were able to provide a special day and a hot meal for 272 children for only $5/child.
“Keep some room in your heart for the unimaginable.”
