Mobile Libraries launched in 3 Schools in Uganda this year!

We are celebrating today the launch of 3 mobile library units this year!

These 3 units have provided 661 children with access to 750 books (authored & printed in Uganda!).

Read below for more of the details of how a mobile library is launched at a school.

We worked with a welding company based in Kampala, UG to build the shelf unit.

We hired a graphic designer to design a sticker for the units.

2 of the units were delivered to primary schools in a remote area. As a result, transportation by “boda boda” was necessary.

The school headmaster signs a MOU ensuring the books will be used by the students and remain in the care of the school.

The library is then presented to the students.

This is always an exciting day for students!

The delivery and oversight of the libraries is carried on through a Ugandan partner organization. This year we partnered with Access Knowledge Africa and the Rotary Club of Gulu.

Thank you to our incredible community of supporters for making this possible. A special thank you to goes out to the R.R. Smith Community Fund held at and administered by Vancity Community Foundation for their generous donation towards the cost of 2 of the units.
